The Roundhouse Guest house

The Roundhouse Guest house is our own 4* rated Guesthouse situated in De Kelders, facing and overlooking Gansbaai, approximately 2km away from thetown. Gansbaai is still an active fishing village and these waters are some of the best along the southern African coastline for commercial fishing. The harbour is full of life with its population of commercial fishing boats and hoards of visitors to the area fishing the rich waters. The town boasts a large fish factory which processes fish oil, fish flower (for cattle feed) and canned pilchards, on occasion when in full production, the factory produces a rather ripe odour but as the locals say "It's the smell of money!"

De Kelders has recently become known worldwide for its excellent land based whale watching. The town boasts a large population of Southern Right and Humpback whales along the coastline between De Kelders and Hermanus. Hermanus is known worldwide for its beauty and its whales, but as many are realising, De Kelders is quite a unique natural gem. Although for night life and entertainment, the town can't compete with Hermanus (it is a small district with only a bakery and pub), for for those wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle and to enjoy the quiet and inspiring coastline it is ideal.

Astacus Suite

This suite is situated at the bottom of the house with its own living room, bedroom and bathroom. The bathroom is very spacious with a built-in shower and corner bath with hand made rustic bathroom fittings. The living room boasts a small work desk, TV, Stereo, Mini-bar fridge, Tea & Coffee facilities and a sliding door to allow for twin access points into the Suite. The carpeted bedroom is spacious and beds can be arranged to accommodate for two people sharing (twin) or a couple (King size bed). This suite has exquisite finishes and an abundance of space.

Cetecea Suite

This suite is also situated at the bottom of the house again with its own living room, bedroom and bathroom. The bathroom is spacious with a built-in shower and corner bath with hand made rustic bathroom fittings. The Living room boasts TV, Stereo,and Mini-bar fridge, Tea & Coffee facilities and sliding door. The bedroom is spacious and beds can be modified to accommodate for two people sharing (twin) or a couple (King size bed). This suite has exquisite finishes and an abundance of space.

Pinnepedia Suite

This suite is situated in the rear section of the building and is not round in shape like the others. It boasts a very large living area with a Bunk Bed, TV, Stereo, 3/4 size fridge, Tea & Coffee Facilities and sliding door. The bedroom is large which can accommodate for either a king size bed or twin beds with a lovely on-suite bathroom. The bathroom has a built in shower & bath & like the others hand made rustic bathroom fittings. This room can accommodate for 4 people with the bunk bed.

The Carcharias Suite (Executive Family)

The Carcharias Suite is our biggest and most luxurious suite. It is also the only suite with a sea view. This suite has been decorated with ultra luxury and African feel in mind. The lounge boasts a big plasma screen television with a DVD and surround sound system for your personal entertainment and relaxation. The screen can swivel 360 degrees so that you can watch television from the lounge as well as main bedroom and bathroom. This is done with a wonderful design that you will only experience at The Roundhouse. The lounge has comfortable seating for 4 persons with a great sea view over the bay. The kitchenette unit in the lounge has a mini bar fridge, prep bowl, microwave, coffee and tea facilities as well as a full set of cutlery and crockery, bread board and toaster. To the right of the lounge you will find the main bedroom with its bathroom. As said you can watch your plasma screen television from your bedroom as well as your bathroom The bedroom is large and the beds can be split into two very comfortable single beds otherwise a very comfortable King size bed. The suite also has a small walk in cupboard that includes a vanity area with a big mirror, counter top and stool. The carpeted floor creates warmth and luxury whilst the finer detail such rough textured paint on the walls and stone clad features truly creates the felling of Africa. The bedroom and living room lights work with dimmer switches so that you can set the mood. The main bedroom's on suite bathroom includes a big jet spa bath and double shower. The bathrooms décor is solid natural stone along with smooth features to create and extremely luxurious African feel. Toiletries such as body lotion, liquid soap, bubble bath, shampoo and a hair dryer are supplied. The bathroom is spacious and ample towels are supplied. To the left of the lounge you will find the second bedroom with its bathroom. If you lock this door to the lounge you will have complete privacy with your own amenities should you wish to have some space from you travel partners. The room also has another door for separate access to the main house. Here you will find a television and DVD player, two chairs for your comfort as well as its own coffee and tea facilities. The beds can be split into two very comfortable single beds otherwise a very comfortable King size bed. The second bedroom's on suite bathroom has a bath and separate shower. Toiletries such as body lotion, liquid soap, bubble bath, shampoo and a hair dryer are supplied. The bathroom is spacious and ample towels are supplied.

The Sunfish Cottage

For those who wish for more homely accommodation we have a cottage just opposite the guesthouse which sleeps 6 people. The cottage offers extremely comfortable self catering accommodation for families, groups and people with pets. The cottage has two and a half bedrooms and can sleep up to six people. There are two bedrooms which can be arranged as king sized beds or twin and the half bedroom boasts a very comfortable double sleeper couch.

The cottage has a TV, full kitchen, indoor and outdoor braai's and 2 bathrooms. This is the perfect accommodation option for families or a group of friends visiting the area and visitors who want to stay for long durations. We do have guests such as film crews and photographers who perhaps prefer to stay in self catering accommodation as it is more private and it seems more like a home away from home rather than being a guest of a guesthouse as nice as this is. As such people spend much of their time traveling it is a refreshing break to stay in accommodation that you can make your home for the duration of your stay. Special rates are available for bookings for long durations.
