White Shark Cage Diving - The Trip

Experience the thrill of being underwater and surrounded by Great White Sharks! This is an amazing feeling seeing the Sharks whilst in the safety of the cage. For clients who do not want to get wet the boat based viewing is exceptional. 

Trips are weather dependent and last approximately 3 hours at sea. The launch time will be confirmed the afternoon before your dive. The morning trips normally launch very early as Shark Diving Unlimited like to be first on the water and at the location.

You will meet for breakfast and briefing at the crew house (on the am trip). Once we are ready you will walk down the road from the crew house to the harbour to board Barracuda. A light lunch and soft drinks are packed on board Barracuda to snack on during the trip. Towels and Diving Equipment are provided & there are hot shower facilities at the crew house following the dive.

You DO NOT need to be a qualified diver to enter the cage as we use a simple breath hold technique. And children as young as 12 years old are also allowed into the cage (Supervised by a parent or guardian and if conditions permit). 

There is a videographer on the boat which will film the trip and after the trip you will watch the video of the day and will be able to buy a copy for R350 per copy (Optional) which also comes with a bonus DVD

Vegetable soup, Scones, Muffins and Bread are also served after the trip whilst you watch the video of the day. 

During the low season (November - March)  there may be a possibility to be unlucky and not see sharks. This is however very rare and should you be unlucky you will be given a voucher to go again for free

Please note that this is just a rough guideline and that the times are confirmed each day before the dive. On busy days there will be 2 or possibly 3 trips depending on operator.

Morning Trip

4:30 - Pick up from Cape Town Address (If shuttle from Cape Town is booked)

7:00 - Meet at Shark Diving crew house in Kleinbaai – Breakfast & Briefing

8:00 - Launch from Kleinbaai harbour – 15 minute boat ride to site

8:15 - Estimated 3 hours at sea for the shark dive tour (All gear included and drinks & snacks on the boat

11:00 - Return to harbour and up to the crew house

11:15 - Light lunch whilst watching video of the day.(Option to purchase DVD @ R350 per copy)

12:00 - Finished at the crew house & Return to Cape Town

14:30 - Return to Cape Town

Afternoon Trip (Only if there are enough clients to run 2 trips)

8:00 - Pick up from Cape Town Address (If shuttle from Cape Town is booked)

10:30 - Meet at Shark Diving crew house in Kleinbaai – Breakfast & Briefing

11:30 - Launch from Kleinbaai harbour – 15 minute boat ride to site

11:45 - Estimated 3-4 hours at sea for the shark dive tour (All gear included and drinks & snacks on the boat

14:45 - Return to harbour and up to the crew house

15:00 - Light lunch whilst watching video of the day.(Option to purchase DVD @ R350 per copy)

16:00 - Finished at the crew house & Return to Cape Town

18:30 - Return to Cape Town

The Boat - Barracuda

Barracuda is a 12m lee cat which has been custom built for white shark cage diving. Her 6-man cage, utilised deck space, top deck, and much more make her the ideal vessel to dare the waters with these amazing and extremely fascinating animals.

She is well equipped with all necessary diving kit, SAMSA approved safety kit (includes 2 15 man life rafts), and state of the art navigational instruments. With dual 200 hp v6 Yamaha motors and a well-balanced hull to ensure a comfortable day out whether at anchor or travelling out to the island.

Barracuda comfortably carries up to 30 clients.

The Cage

The cage is a 6 man steel cage that takes 4 to 6 divers at one time in the cage depending on the size of the group. 

Shark Diving Unlimited - The Company

Shark Diving Unlimited is a family that run a great white shark cage diving operation with over 10 years of experience. Their crew is very knowledgeable and will do their best to take you the shark lover out for your dream encounter with the Great White Shark. Shark Diving Unlimited is also a registered PADI dive center although only cage diving is available through them. They have been involved with many documentaries and TV programs.
