Shark Cage Diving – Durban Trip
The Shark Cage Diving experience as a vital way to connect non-divers with sharks in the wild and to educate people about sharks and that they are not ‘man-eaters’ but intelligent and beautiful animals. The dive is not anything like that in Gansbaai as the Black Tip sharks are very placid and easy to dive with for all levels.
Should you also feel comfortable with the sharks and the dive master agrees then you will have the opportunity to swim outside the cage with the sharks.

A typical shark cage dive involves getting into a wetsuit, donning a mask and snorkel and climbing into a floating cage with between 5 and 30 sharks gliding gracefully past. Sardines are used to keep the sharks interested in the boat and cage otherwise they will quickly lose interest in the divers. There has never been a recorded attack on a human by this species of shark and after a while in the water, you will feel very comfortable with them.

Please note: This activity is weather related and if the Skipper decides to cancel due to high seas it is for the safety of the divers. The sharks are common at Aliwal Shoal and normally it does not take very long at all to see the sharks by the boat. These are wild animals however and as all wild animals there are no guarantees to see them.
The cage diving trip was excellent will do it again. It is a must if you come KZN.
